In 2019 the Prosecco hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene were added to the World Heritage List. The area is a hilly area situated in the northern part of the province of Treviso, where the much loved Prosecco Superiore Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG comes from. You can visit the local wineries and follow specific tasting routes on request.
In some areas, you can see the vineyards overlooking the hill, the scene of the “heroic harvest”, where cultivating the vines is a real act of love.
A few meters from the Relais you will find the archaeological ruins of the ancient walls of Jesolo, recovered thanks to the campaigns carried out by the nearby Ca’Foscari University of Venice. The ruins allow you to imagine two religious buildings, which were brought to light thanks to the meticulous activity of young grad students: the 9th-century Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the church dedicated to San Mauro. They are free to visit.
Lio Piccolo is a hamlet in the municipality of Cavallino-Treporti, a strip of land embraced by the Venice lagoon and the Adriatic Sea. Today it has only 22 inhabitants. In addition to being a charming corner of peace it is also a perfect habitat for animal species such as pink flamingos, who are free to take flight in the peaceful surroundings. You can reach it by bike, boat or canoe, marvelling at the tranquillity of the place. The excursion with a passionate local guide will make the experience even more special.
Murano, Burano and Torcello are small pearls set in the lagoon. Whereas Murano is known for its prestigious glass handmade by local artisans, Burano is the most colourful island, easily recognizable by boats even on hazy days. But it is also the island of lace, a tradition that has its roots in an ancient legend, starting a trend that spread throughout Europe during the sixteenth century. Meanwhile, Torcello attracts visitors to the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta and the Throne of Attila.
The capital of the Veneto region and former Serenissima Republic, Venice is Italy’s second-most popular destination for travellers. The city is a true open-air museum. You can visit exhibitions and discover artistic installations, take precious travel photos in famous and hidden corners or get lost in the mysterious alleys, marvelling at the architecture of the palaces. Don’t forget to savour a delicious traditional Spritz with Select liqueur, accompanied by some tasty “cicchetti”, typical Venetian nibbles.
